In America The early performances of Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the child prodigy category. As a person with Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents and family members, this came naturally. Maureen arrived in this nurturing sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. She was raised by her parents and family members. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake in "The Shamrock Rovers" a renowned Irish soccer squad. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a fan of rough and sports as a kid and excelled in sports. This naturally-born interest with her ability for performing was remarkable. As evidenced by receiving nearly every Feis awards for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. When she was 14, she had been admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study operatic singing and classical theater.
